When is it Okay for a Child to Quit a Sport?
Parents often struggle with letting their child quit, fearing it teaches them to be a 'quitter.' However, forcing a child to play a sport they hate can cause resentment. If they are miserable, it's okay to let them stop.
A good rule of thumb is to ask them to finish out the current season to teach commitment to the team, but allow them to choose a different activity the following season. The goal is lifelong activity, not forced participation.
